Message From the City Manager
On behalf of the City of Dublin, I proudly present our 2009 Annual Report. For the first time, the City is offering its annual publication of accomplishments and initiatives in a Web-based format. The evolution of this report from a printed piece to an online document is just one of the many ways the City Administration is answering the global call for sustainability.
In 2009, our residents indicated unprecedented levels of satisfaction through the National Citizen Survey conducted by the National Research Center (NRC). The results of this survey inspired Thomas I. Miller, president of NRC, to state that “clearly something remarkable is happening” in Dublin.
One of the City’s most noteworthy accomplishments in 2009 was the founding of the Dublin Entrepreneurial Center (DEC), an innovative business cultivator providing a wide array of facilities and services to support new businesses. The creation of the DEC was one of the many reasons Dublin was named a Top 7 Intelligent Community by the prestigious Intelligent Community Forum. Lou Zacharilla, forum co-founder, praised Dublin for being “a true, open source community where people from the government are talking with people from the private sector.”
While we are proud of these achievements, we acknowledge the need to discover what will make Dublin exceptional in the future. One important part of this process is the comprehensive visioning for the central core of our community, the Bridge Street Corridor Study, which began in 2009.
