2010 Annual Report
A message from City Manager Marsha Grigsby
In 2010, the City of Dublin, Ohio, USA, celebrated its Bicentennial with the theme: 200 Years, One Community, Endless Possibilities.
The City of Dublin has changed tremendously since its founding in 1810 - perhaps no more so than in the last 30 years. Yet, we and the same spirit that was present 200 years ago continues to bring innovative changes today. Like the foresight of the early leaders that has been passed among the generations and can be seen in the goals that Dublin City Council is advancing today.
Just as Bridge Street was an important thoroughfare to Dublin's early roots, today it is the corridor of our future.
The Scioto River, which was the main reason the then-village was settled, remains a dynamic component and resource to our sustainable community. The ongoing preservation of the natural environment brings great enjoyment to families and visitors alike.
The spirit of entrepreneurship inherent in those early pioneers extends to those who followed and ensures modern-day Dublin's thriving, vibrant and energetic business community and sound economy.
We enjoy being a part of a 21st century learning community, where collaboration among schools, the library system, businesses, government and community organizations contribute to lifelong education. We are proud that all three of Dublin's high schools were once again named to Newsweek's list of America's Best High Schools.
In fact, the entire Dublin community was named among the Top Seven of the New York-based Intelligent
Community Forum's list of the world's best in terms of broadband and technology innovations.
We celebrate these and other achievements and milestones at community gatherings, such as Friday night football games and neighborhood block parties, as well as signature events like the Independence Day Celebration and the Dublin Irish Festival.
The celebration of our past continues; it's just the beginning of our journey.
Sincerely,
Marsha Grigsby, Dublin City Manager
