Inspections Services
Construction or work for which approval is required shall be subject to inspection by Building Standards and such construction or work shall remain accessible and exposed for inspection purposes until approved. It shall be the duty of the applicant to cause the work to remain accessible and exposed for inspection purposes.
It shall be the duty of the owner, or the owner’s duly authorized agent, to notify Building Standards when work is ready for inspection.
Work shall not be completed beyond the point indicated in each successive inspection, without first obtaining the approval from Building Standards. Building Standards, upon notification, shall cause the requested inspection to be made and either approve the portion of the construction that is satisfactory as completed, or shall notify the owner or the owner’s authorized agent where and in what way the portion fails to comply with the code. Any portions that do not comply shall constitute a violation and such portion shall be corrected.

The City will also perform all Zoning and Engineering inspections. Please check with those respective work units for information on their required inspections.
To schedule an inspection with Building Standards, call 614-410-4680 prior to 6:00 a.m. of the day requested for the inspection. Follow the verbal directions and ask for the type of inspection that most closely matches those which are shown on your building inspection sign-off card. Inspections are performed Monday through Friday. Inspections may also be scheduled online, please follow the directions. The approved plans must be on the job site in order to perform the inspection. Failure to have the approved plans on the job site may result in a re-inspection fee being issued.
Plumbing Inspections:
Franklin County will perform all Plumbing inspections for the City of Dublin which are scheduled by calling 614-462-3865.
Commercial Life/Safety Inspections:
Washington Township, in conjunction with the City of Dublin, Building Standards will perform Life/Safety inspections. Life/Safety inspections must first be scheduled through the Washington Township Fire Department at 614-652-3920 at least 48 hours prior to the time which is being requested. After receiving a date and time from WTFD, call the Building Standards inspection line at 614-410-4680 to schedule the same date and time with Building Standards, this information may be called in anytime prior to 6 a.m. the day of the inspection.
