Avery Road Widening
Project Overview and Status
The purpose of this study is to arrive at a preferred widening plan for Avery Road from Woerner-Temple Road to Shier-Rings Road that maximizes traffic safety and efficiency of traffic operation, while minimizing project costs and negative impacts to property owners and the general public. The ultimate solution should not only accommodate today's traffic and land use needs, but traffic and land use needs many years into the future.
Current and Future Conditions
This section of Avery Road is an important traffic artery for today's transportation system, and will be even more important in the future. Traffic engineering analysis indicates that the anticipated development and associated traffic growth in this corridor, and in the greater Dublin area, will result in traffic flow and safety problems along this section of Avery Road. Now is the right time to consider traffic control, access, and traffic capacity improvements to prepare this corridor for the needs of future generations.

One anticipated problem in the corridor is that current intersections of Avery Road with other public streets in the corridor will exceed their capacity in future years resulting in long delays and vehicle backups, especially during peak hours of travel. Another problem is that the numerous side streets and driveways along Avery Road create a multitude of conflict points for vehicles and pedestrians that create a potential traffic crash problem, especially considering forecasted traffic growth.
