Clay Rose Named Grand Leprechaun of St. Patrick's Day Parade

Clay Rose IIIClayton (Clay) Rose, III has been selected Grand Leprechaun of the 2010 St. Patrick’s Day Parade, twenty-five years after his father, Clay Rose, II, served in the same capacity.  As Grand Leprechaun, Rose will lead the parade and serve as a judge for the parade float decorating contest on Saturday, March 13.

“I’m thrilled with this honor, especially sharing it with my father who served as Grand Leprechaun in 1985,” said Clay. “His example of community service inspired me at an early age to get involved and stay involved. I have a great deal of respect for all of the people who have been honored throughout the years as Grand Leprechaun.

Clay presently serves as treasurer of the Kiwanis Club of Dublin, advisor to the board and member emeritus of the Dublin Convention & Visitors Bureau, advisory board member of the Dublin Irish Festival, trustee and treasurer of the foundation of Dublin Community Church, treasurer for the Dublin CanAm Police & Fire Athletic Games, and is a member of the City of Dublin Tax Board of Review.

Through and with his partners at the Dublin office of Rea & Associates, Clay supports a number of philanthropic activities in the community.

“Clay is the kind of person who makes things happen when a need appears,” said former Grand Leprechauns Tom and Gayle Holton. Former Leprechaun Herb Jones said, “This being the Bicentennial of Dublin, how appropriate it is to have someone born and raised in Dublin for the 2010 Grand Leprechaun.” He added, “This is a first…having a father and son selected as Grand Leprechauns.”

A native and resident of Dublin, Clay and his wife Lynn have three children Abby, Alex and Erin.

Dublin’s St. Patrick’s Day parade promises plenty of “Irish Attitude”.  It begins at 11 a.m. at Metro Center Plaza and ends in Historic Dublin.  Before the parade, the Lion’s Club Pancake Breakfast begins at 7 a.m. at Sells Middle School, 150 W. Bridge Street. After the parade, the American Cancer Society’s Blarney Hop will take place at the Shoppes at River Ridge, 6436 Riverside Drive from 1 to 5 p.m.
