Bridge Street Corridor Open House Meetings Scheduled to Review New Code and Zoning

Dublin, OH – The City of Dublin is hosting two open house meetings for property owners and stakeholders within the Bridge Street Corridor project area to learn more about the draft development code and what its impacts may be on individual properties and the areas as a whole.  Other interested individuals are also encouraged to attend.

According to the City of Dublin’s Director of Land Use and Long Range Planning Steve Langworthy the purpose of these two scheduled open house meetings will be to give residents, land owners and business owners in the Bridge Street Corridor an overview of the plan, a look at the proposed development code, potential area rezoning and an opportunity to discuss the plan with City staff.

“The Bridge Street Corridor is expected to look much different than the rest of Dublin, with a denser, mixed-use environment that maintains Dublin’s commitment to the high quality development standards we have established over the past four decades,” said Langworthy. “While it only comprises six percent of Dublin’s total land mass, the Bridge Street Corridor draft development code will use a new approach to development regulations. The draft code, which incorporates many elements of a “form-based code,” will include regulations that are critical to establishing a walkable, urban character while placing the utmost importance on development quality and economic competitiveness.”

Langworthy said the proposed code was presented April 14 at a Joint Session of Dublin City Council, the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Architectural Review Board and the Board of Zoning Appeals. Consultants presented information on form-based codes and elements of transportation modeling. There will be two additional Joint Sessions to review the code and preliminary results of the transportation modeling for the Bridge Street Corridor. In addition, there will be updates from the sewer and storm water management studies. Council’s goal is to adopt the new development code for the Bridge Street Corridor by early summer 2011.

The first Open House is scheduled for Monday, May 2, 2011 from 2 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the Dublin Community Recreation Center. The second Open House is scheduled for Wednesday, June 8, 2011 from 2 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the Dublin Community Recreation Center.

Information on the Bridge Street Corridor, including the adopted Vision Report, proposed development code, draft area rezoning map, video of the consultants’ presentations and future meeting dates, is available on www.dublin.oh.us/bridgestreet
