Mosquito Spraying Scheduled for NE Dublin on Tuesday, July 12
Dublin, OH - Franklin County Public Health has been actively trapping mosquitoes throughout Franklin County since mid-May. Some area traps are beginning to show high numbers of culex mosquitoes. Culex mosquitoes are the species that can transmit West Nile virus to humans. No mosquitoes have tested positive for West Nile virus in these areas at this time.
In order to reduce the number of adult mosquitoes, Franklin County Public Health will be spraying northeast Dublin on Tuesday, July 12, beginning at 8:45 p.m. - weather permitting. The area to be sprayed is north of I-270, the Scioto River/Riverside Drive east to Sawmill Rd and south of Glick Road.

Some important guidelines from Franklin County Public Health:
For your safety and the safety of our operators do not approach or walk up to a spray truck. If you are in a vehicle do not follow a spray truck when it is operating. If a spray truck passes your vehicle, raise the windows and turn on the air conditioning (on recirculation mode) until the truck passes or find an alternate route.
You may also want to remain indoors with the windows closed when spraying is taking place (if possible). Typically, windows can be reopened within 30 minutes after our trucks have passed.
It is a good reminder for residents to take precautionary steps to protect themselves and their families.
-
Wear insect repellant containing DEET (follow package directions).
-
Limit outdoor activity at dusk and dawn when mosquitoes are most active.
-
Eliminate all standing water around your home (mosquitoes breed in water and it doesn’t take much time).
