Seasonal Enforcement Ordinances
Code Enforcement would like to take the opportunity to remind all residents and business owners that the approach of Spring means that the City will begin enforcement of the Grass & Weed Ordinance.
Enforcement activities run from March 1 thru October 30 and applies to grass or weeds exceeding six inches in height or maturing seeds thereon. If a violation is identified, a notice is forwarded to the property owner requiring the property be mowed within five (5) days. If the violation is not corrected within this time the City arranges for the property to be mowed by a contractor and the property owner charged the mowing fee and an administrative fee; which in 2009 is a total of $410.00.
Only one notice per season will be issued. Once the first notice has been sent, the property will continue to be monitored by Code Enforcement and any further violations will be mowed and the fees charged throughout the remainder of the growing season.

Grass and Weed Control
Noxious weeds and grass must be mowed regularly from March 1 to October 31 to prevent weeds/grass from exceeding 6 inches in height or maturing to seed. Owners of properties that do not comply will receive a notice from the City to cut or mow the weeds/grass within five days. If the owner fails to do this, the City will hire a private contractor to do the work at the owner’s expense.
