Dublin Division of Police Commemorative Badge

The new badge of the Dublin Division of Police was introduced at the July 1, 2009 Dublin City Council meeting. The design of the badge commemorates the founding of the division and the City.

Badge Design Facts:

The overall shape of the badge is a shield – symbolizing the police and our role as the protectors of society

“Police” etched in a blue background – symbolizing the “thin blue line” officers represent between safety and harm

Years of significance

- 1810: The founding of Dublin

- 1957: The establishment of the Division of Police

Chief Shetaronya – “Leatherlips,” a friend to the founders of Dublin and known as a man of his word

The badge features several images of our Irish ancestry

- Shamrocks

- Celtic knots

- Stone wall

The edifice of the Dublin Justice Center with the scales of justice under the Memorial Arch

The symbols of freedom for our country and state – the flags of the U.S. and Ohio
