Epperson accepts position as City Manager of New Bern, North Carolina
City of Dublin Deputy City Manager/Chief of Police Mike Epperson has accepted a position as City Manager of New Bern, North Carolina.
On Thursday, July 29, 2010, Epperson submitted his letter of resignation to City Manager Terry Foegler. Epperson’s last day is expected to be near the end of August.
Epperson joined the City of Dublin in 1988 as a police officer. He received several promotions during his 22 years – sergeant in 1991; lieutenant in 1997; and in 2002 he was named Chief of Police. In April 2007, he was promoted to Deputy City Manager and retained his title and duties as Chief of Police. As a Deputy City Manager, he oversees the divisions of police, human resources, parks and leisure services and emergency management. His annual salary is $131,832.00.
“Mike has had professional aspirations in the management of city government well beyond public safety. His master’s degree in public policy and management from The Ohio State University and his increasing roles and responsibilities with the City of Dublin have substantially broadened his public sector knowledge and experience and prepared him well for his next position,” said Foegler. “We wish Mike the best of luck in his new endeavor.”
Foegler is evaluating the process for selecting a Chief of Police and is assessing the best course of action for the deputy city manager leadership role.
