Dublin Taking Safety Measures to Prevent Thefts

(DUBLIN, Ohio) – The Dublin Community Recreation Center (DCRC) has taken recent safety measures to reduce theft from locker rooms and other areas of the facility.

These measures include the following:

  • All members, day pass visitors, program participants, and spectators passing the Check-In Desk at the DCRC must present a State, School, or City of Dublin picture ID now. Children unaccompanied by an adult must also present identification
  • Additional security monitoring cameras in the public areas of the facility

“We have seen a recent spike of thefts at the Recreation Center, resulting in revamped security measures at the facility,” said Chief Heinz von Eckartsberg. “Patrons are strongly encouraged to remove valuables from unattended vehicles and unsecured lockers. Leaving items such as an iPod or wallet in an unlocked locker or in plain view in your vehicle greatly increases your chances of becoming victimized.”

The most recent theft occurred at approximately 3:05 p.m. Friday, July 15 where a guest of the DCRC reported the theft of his wallet, credit cards, cash, and medical card.
