This course will prepare candidates to become a Swimming Instructor for the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program.
Upon successful completion of this course:
American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor's will be qualified to teach the six levels of the American Red Learn-to-Swim Program, Community Water Safety, and Longfellow's Whale Tales. You will also complete the Fundamentals of Instructor Training (FIT) Course, which is a prerequisite for other American Red Cross courses.
Course Information:
1. You must be 16 by the last day of the course - Bring Proof of your age the first day
2. You must attend all classes and can not arrive late or leave early - there are no exceptions.
3. Items that you are responsible for bringing with you to class are:

Swim suit, towel, goggles

Notebook and pencil or pen

Once you have received your books bring them daily
4. All cell phones must be turned off during class.
5. Please confirm the location of your class and determine the appropriate route to the pool. Directions to the Dublin Community Recreation Center can be found on the City of Dublin website(www.dublin,oh.us) or call 614-410-4550.
6. The Dublin Community Recreation Center is not responsible for any lost or stolen items. We suggest leaving valuables (cell phone, palm pilot, wallet, etc.) at home or in the trunk of your car.
7. The first day of class you will receive from your instructor a flash pass that allows you to come into the Center during class. If you forget or lose the flash pass you are required to get a new one at the front desk prior to going to class.
Prerequisites:
1. Minimum age of 16 by the last class of the session
2. On the first day of class you will be required to successfully demonstrate swimming the following strokes:

Front Crawl (25 yards)

Backstroke (25 yards)
-
Breaststroke (25 yards)
-
Sidestroke (25 yards)
-
Butterfly (demonstrate)
3. You will be expected to pass a written test after going over the FIT Course the first day.
You must be able to pass all required prerequisites to participate in the course.

Non-Residents or Residents (Proof of Residency i.e., Drivers License or utility bill will be required at the time of registration to receive the residency rate) may register by stopping at the Dublin Community Recreation Center front Desk during regular business hours.
A Visa or MasterCard is required for billing and to confirm registration of classes. City of Dublin software ensures the security of credit card numbers.
