Dublin Skate Park

Background In 1999, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission, under the direction of Dublin City Council, researched skate parks after receiving a request from Dublin area youths for such a facility. Council decided to follow PRAC's recommendation to design and build such a facility. Skate park designers worked closely with the City and with dozens of area youths in designing the park.
Beginner This street-style area is enclosed with three- to five-foot high banks. Slider rails, steps and two-foot raised walls also are incorporated into this area.
Intermediate This street-style area includes quarter-pipe features, vertical walls, a fun box and cheek walls.
Advanced This area includes three bowl-shaped features ranging from three to nine feet deep, forming a clover shape.

Safety First

The newest addition to Dublin's parks may be tons of concrete fun, but the Dublin Skate Park should also be a place for safety.

The opening of the Dublin Skate Park is tentatively scheduled for 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, just in time for the holidays. Youths planning on using the facility are advised to follow some common sense safety tips and follow posted regulations to ensure a safe and fun experience.

  • All appropriate safety gear is recommended. Skate park users are encouraged to wear helmets, pads and wrist guards for their own safety.

  • Only skateboards and in-line skates are allowed in the facility. Bicycles and other devices are prohibited.

  • All City park rules apply to Dublin Skate Park.

  • Unlike City park amenities such as the Dublin Municipal Pool and Dublin Community Recreation Center, the skate park is not directly supervised by City staff.

  • The skate park will be open year-round during normal park hours, from dawn to dusk. Should it become necessary to close the facility for ice or other hazardous weather conditions, appropriate signs will be posted.

By following these rules and recommendations, the Dublin Skate Park will be an exciting - and safe - addition to Dublin's park system.
