Cooking Up a Story

Enjoy time with your preschooler reading a story and then preparing a snack in our kitchen. Children have the opportunity to learn basic cooking skills and how to be safe in the kitchen. Each week a new story brings new adventures and yummy fun! Parent participation is required.

Preschool Open Gym

Bring your little ones on Mondays and Fridays to Preschool Open Gym! The gym is set up with age appropriate toys and equipment for you and your child to play and have a safe, fun time. This is a drop-in program, no registration is necessary. A fee is collected when you arrive, or purchase a POG pass for quick entry. An adult must accompany every child or family of children. Preschool Adventure NEW

Learn important social skills like sharing, taking turns and working together while playing with new friends. Age appropriate, weekly themed art projects, musical finger plays and physical activities help preschoolers develop their fine and gross motor skills. Class includes one hour of Preschool Open Gym time. Participants should bring a packed lunch (no peanut products, please) to eat at the Recreation Center. We expect our young friends to be happy, tired and ready for a nap when you pick them up. Children must be potty trained and come dressed for a mess.

This introductory class meets for nine weeks and covers 30 basic upper and lower body techniques (kihon). Additional course work includes basic self defense, break falls and rolls. No prior experience is required. All participants receive a course manual. Instructors provide information on gi (uniform) and IWKA membership (additional fee). Belt work for this class includes: white, yellow-stripe, and yellow. Friday classes take place in Fitness Studio 1. Enrollment deadline is one week before each program session.

Karate Intermediate/Advanced

This novice class meets for nine weeks and is intended for students with some prior experience or who have completed the beginner class curriculum. Instruction includes the continued study and practice of kihon, introduction to kata (prearranged fight sequences) and introduction of kumite (sparring). Instructors provide information on sparring equipment and belt promotion (additional fee). Belt work for this class includes: blue, green, and brown for Intermediate and purple and black for Advanced. Enrollment deadline is one week before each program session.

Daddy/Daughter Date Night
Don't miss this opportunity to spend the evening with your littlest sweetheart. Our formal Valentine event features desserts, dancing, heart bingo, keepsake photograph, a craft, and a special treat for the little ladies. An optional dinner is available (extra fee) from 5 - 6pm The program begins at 6pm To register more than one daughter please contact Sharon Adamek at 614.410.4575 (additional daughters are $15 each).
Turn Daddy Daughter Date Night into an even more special affair by registering for dinner at The Golf Club of Dublin before the dance. Dinner for dad includes an entree, salad, vegetables, rolls, and drink. Dinner for the little ladies includes chicken fingers, mac n' cheese, fruit, and a drink. Cost is for both dad and daughter and includes tax and gratuity. Dinner registration must be made by January 24 with the DCRC; dinner is not available to add on the day of the event. Price is per couple. To register more than one daughter for dinner please contact Sharon Adamek (extra dinners are $10 each).

Book, Movie, & Music Swap
Everyone's invited to our annual swap! Recycle your books, DVDs, and (new for 2012) your music CDs. Drop them off Saturday morning at 9:30am and receive a ticket redeemable for the same number of books/DVDs/CDs. At 10am you have the opportunity to exchange your ticket for books, movies, or music. Books must be in good and readable condition with the cover intact and DVDs/CDs must be fully operable and in their original case.

Join COSI and explore as a family the environment through sensory, fine and gross motor skills, and creative expression. Engage in a variety of activities that are developmentally appropriate for infants through age 7 and their families. Experiment with everyday materials that you can continue to have fun with and explore at home. Topics for session one include: buildings, under the sea, movement, and space. Topics for session two include: rainbows, animals, big and small, and yuck and muck. Parent participation is required.

Baby & Kid Sale Bonanza
Here's your chance to do a little Spring cleaning and sell your gently-used children's items (newborn - 12 years) in a community garage sale setting. To sell, register for the sale as you would any DCRC program. Space is limited so register early! No commercial vendors please.
If you are just interested in attending the sale, there is no entrance fee but bring plenty of cash for lots of great deals! Doors open at 1:30pm and you must have a state, school, or DCRC photo ID to enter the sale.
