Curbside Leaf Collection
Leaf collection in the City of Dublin will run until Friday, December 4.
The City of Dublin and U.S. Postal Service are asking residents not to rake their leaves in the streets for collection.
To avoid creating hazardous conditions residents should rake their leaves to the edge of the curb for collection by crews from Streets & Utilities. Leaves become slippery when wet and create hazardous road conditions. Leaves piled in the road also may clog storm sewers that may produce flooded streets and yards. In addition, leaves should not be piled around parked cars or cover fire hydrants.
It is not necessary for residents to schedule the curbside leaf collection service. City staff will collect all leaves placed at the curbside during scheduled collection.
Collection occurs weekdays between 7 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. After Streets and Utilities crews perform leaf pickup across the entire City, they begin the process again. The City's goal is to collect leaves once a week; however, during periods of heavy leaves, inclement weather and weeks that include holidays, there may be delays in between leaf collection.
After Dec. 4, leaves are to be placed in biodegradable paper yard waste bags or in a trash can designated for yard waste only. The bags or cans should weigh no more than 50 pounds each when filled and will be collected as part of the normal curbside-composting program every Monday.
Please follow these guidelines to ensure safe and efficient service:
-
Rake leaves to the curb to ensure pick up that week.
-
Do not place leaves in the roadway or pile them around parked cars or fire hydrants.
-
Keep children away from leaf piles that are ready for collection.
Residents are reminded that leaf piles that are mixed with grass trimmings, branches, brush or other non-leaf content will not be collected through this service. Residents with branches, brush, etc. may have them collected through the curbside chipper program by calling Streets & Utilities and scheduling a collection.
To schedule a chipper collection, call Streets & Utilities’ Information Line at 410-4780 (24 hours a day) or the Streets & Utilities office at 614-410-4750 (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.). Grass clippings and other yard waste should be placed at the curbside in biodegradable yard waste bags or in a trash can designated for yard waste for regular collection on Mondays.
