Winter Weather
Snow Removal Update
City of Dublin crews have made at least one pass on each street and are now recirculating to treat all streets and plow snow to the curb, per the City's snow removal policy. Every available crew member and vehicle is working this latest winter storm event.
The City has received several inquiries concerning the removal of snow from sidewalks. According to City code, it is the responsibility of residents to remove snow from their respective sidewalks and the City appreciates the efforts of its residents in this regard.
The City asks residents to assist in these efforts in the following ways:
-
Stay clear of snow plows and do not attempt to pass them
-
Do not park your vehicles on streets
-
Do not allow children to play in snow piles near streets and driveway aprons
-
Keep fire hydrants and storm sewer inlets clear of snow
Snow Removal
The City has a curb-to-curb snow removal policy whereby all streets within City limits will be plowed and salted as conditions warrant. To ensure that major thoroughfares remain open to traffic, a prioritization program has been established (private streets are not treated):
-
Primary Streets - major arteries or streets with dangerous hills or curves are plowed first. These streets will continue to receive treatment as long as weather conditions continue - blowing snow and freezing roads once snow has thawed can require continued treatment
-
Secondary Streets - through streets that intersect primary streets. These streets will be plowed and salted once primary streets have received treatment
-
Tertiary Streets - primarily courts and no outlet streets are plowed and salted last
Residents can assist the snow plowing process in several ways:
-
Residents should not shovel snow into City streets or allow private contractors hired to plow their driveways to do so.
-
Stay as far away from snow plows as possible
-
Keep children away from snow plows; keep parked cars off the street
-
Do not attempt to pass a snow plow
To provide a more thorough and quicker snow removal service, residents are asked not to park their automobiles on the street after a snowfall. Residents are required to keep their sidewalks, curbs and gutters in repair and free of snow, ice, debris and obstructions. Depositing snow or ice on any public sidewalk, street, bike path, road or highway is not permitted.

Snow Emergency
During winter weather situations, counties have the authority to issue snow emergencies. In accordance with Ohio law, the City of Dublin recognizes the following snow emergency classifications as issued by Franklin, Delaware and Union counties:
-
Level 1 - conditions are hazardous, motorists should drive carefully
-
Level 2 - people should drive only when necessary
-
Level 3 - roads are closed to non-emergency travel. Police may arrest people who are on the road unnecessarily
During a snow emergency, Streets & Utilities' offices are open and can be reached by calling 614-410-4750.
